ACTV Covers the Polar Plunge!

Intrepid videographer and Station Manager, Charlie Scott recently ventured out of his winter quarters to make the trek to the banks of the frigid waters of Lake Louise in Roaring Gap, North Carolina. He was there to record the 2014 Polar Plunge for the Alleghany Special Olympics. According to the event’s organizers BJ Edwards and Lillis Ward, 40 entrants braved the cold to dip, to dunk or to dive right into the icy water. Participants- or Plungers– raised at least $50 each for privilege of flash freezing themselves for the Special Olympics program in this 2nd annual event.

Rob Klingensmith heads for Davy Jones Locker while a diver from the Alleghany Rescue Squad oversees the action.

Look for an upcoming episode of Did You Know on ACTV (Alleghany Cablevision Channel 98, Skybest Channel 21, Surry TV Channel 15 or Wilkes Telecommunications Channel 14) for the entire story. The show will also be available for streaming, online, at DVDs will be available at the ACTV Studios.

Mr. Scott pauses and poses with the Polar Plunge Mascot in the background.
